rooibos iced tea
We were visiting my brother and sister-in-law at their new house for dinner one afternoon. And she welcomed us with this wonderful iced tea. It was perfectly refreshing for that day. She revealed the ingredients and I have since started making my own. James asks for it by name. Both kids just love it. And I feel good knowing they are not drinking sugary juice. Rooibos is tea made from a South African bush, not a tea leaf. So, it is naturally decaffinated. It also happens to be chock full of antioxidants. You can find it just about anywhere these days.
4 rooibos tea bags
4 cups boiling water
1/4 cup agave nectar
6 cups ice water
juice of 2 valencia oranges
few sprigs of mint
- Place agave nectar and tea bags in a teapot or heat proof bowl.
- Pour 4 cups boiling water over tea bags. Let steep for about 10 minutes. Transfer to pitcher and add 4 cups ice cold water.
- Juice oranges with reamer and add mint leaves to pitcher. Serve chilled over ice. Garnish each glass with mint.
